UMBC MSA once again proudly brings you the annual Islamic Awareness Week.
Come learn about different areas of Islam. Our goal is to improve the campus' knowledge about what Islam is, and in that vein we have plans for things to do all week.
MONDAY: Science in the Heavens
April 6, 2009

Dr. Imad Ad-dean Ahmed (UMD), author of Signs in the Heavens, will lecture about his book and how religion and science, unlike in the western world, do not have to be at odds with each other in Islam. There will then be a Q&A session and reception.
TUESDAY: On a Wing and a Prayer Dialogue

We will show the film "On a Wing and a Prayer", a documentary about a Muslim man who, despite living in a post-9/11 world, attempts to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a pilot. There will be an MSA-led discussion afterwards.
WEDNESDAY: Five Pillars
April 8, 2009

Commons Main Street
Five tables will be set up, each focusing on a pillar of Islam. Each table will have information about the pillar and an activity. Ice cream will be served to guests, who can then receive a different topping at each table.
THURSDAY: Hijab Live!
April 9, 2009
12:00 pm – 2:00pm
Commons Mainstreet
A table will be set up in the commons with mirrors and a variety of hijabs. Girls who are curious to try one on can do so; they will also have the option of having their pictures taken and e-mailed to them.
FRIDAY: Wounds of the World
April 10, 2009
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lecture/ Fundraiser
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Jum’ah

The lecture section will raise awareness of the plight of Muslims in Palestine, Darfur, Burma and Somalia. The jum’ah sermon will cover the same topic from an Islamic perspective. All donations from Jum’ah will be diverted to our fundraiser for Islamic Relief.

I really like the newly designed site, looks really good!
I was thinking, maybe you should add a link to this site to the signature portion of the MSA emails you guys send out. That way everyone on the mailing list can know about it, like for those who dont have fb. Cuz I know alot of people who dont know about it, and personally I think this is a better way of advertising your events! Just a suggestion!!!
