Ramadan is HERE!!!

By the Grace and Blesings of ALLAH Azzawajal, Ramadan is upon us all once more.
Most local area Mosques including Dar-al-Salam in College Park, Dar-al-Taqwa in Columbia, and Masjid Al-Rahma in Baltimor have announced that Taraweeh prayers will begin tonight and tomorrow, Sept 1st, the first day of fasting inshALLAH.
We urge everyone to PLEASE consider signing up for atleast one Iftar! MSA is a non-profit student organization. Allmost all of the food we serve for iftars is provided by the students and alumni.
Our Beloved Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) said:
“…Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Hell-Fire, and he shall have he same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all.”(Reported by Ibn Khuzaymah).--- Allahu-akbar!

Iftar Locations:
- Monday and Thursday: IFC (Interfaith Center) located across from the library in the trailer to the right (check the directions link for the exact location)
- Tuesday: 2nd Floor of Commons in the SGA Student Org. Space.
- Wednesday: UC 312.
The MSA is NOT formally arranging any Taraweeh prayers at UMBC.

UMBC-MSA's Fast-A-Thon is Here!

The Fast-A-Thon is a day held in the month of Ramadan. This day,
students from universities all across North America Fast for one day
(abstain from food, drink, and bad deeds) in an effort to raise money
for the needy.
Through Fast-A-Thon, students get the
opportunity to learn about ISLAM, display the values of gratitude to
their Maker, patience and resistance to their temptations and
compassion and benevolence to their fellow human beings by struggling
to put an end to hunger and homelessness in their communities.
We urge everyone to donate as much as they can and help us in making our community a hunger free zone.
All contributions will be donated to the Maryland Food Drive.
September 17th, 2008
