UMBC Muslim Student Association

This semester the UMBC MSA will be hosting the biannual Football Tournament. The tournament will be held on April 24, 2010 on UMBC's Erickson Field. There will also be a concurrent barbecue and inter-MSA sisters' picnic, Insha'Allah. These three big inter-MSA events will all be focused on raising funds for Muslimat Al Nisaa, a Muslim woman's shelter that is in need of such types of fund-raisers and awareness campaigns. We would like to invite the MSA at John Hopkins University, Towson University, and College Park to participate in these inter-MSA events. Below are more details about each of the three events,

*Flag-football Tournament.*
Begins at 10:30 am
In order to participate please have a minimum of 7 brothers on your team. If you need more players please contact Br. Abubakr or Br. Yousuf and arrangements can be made Insha'Allah.
Each team may have a maximum of 14 players with a maximum of 7 players on the field.
Their will be a registration fee of $6.00 per player.
The winning teams will be awarded a trophy, Insha'Allah.

*Sisters' Picnic at Erickson Field*
Begins at 11:30am
This is an Inter-MSA sisters' event.
Participation is free, but food will cost $6.00 per person.

*MSA-BBQ
*Begins at 12:00pm
Food will cost $6.00 per person.
(for those who have paid the player registration fee or the picnic fee,
the BBQ fee will not be charged.)

Even though we are charging fees, none of the proceeding will be going into our MSA account. Everything we make will be going towards Muslimat Al-Nissa. So even if you don't like football, barbecues or picnics, please come to support our sisters at the shelter and encourage others in your MSA to do so as well. If you would like to donate more than your $6.00 fee or learn about other ways to assist the shelter, you will also be able to do that at this event. This is also a great opportunity to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, and to ensure future inter-MSA event like this, Insha'Allah.

We will be sending out more information as it becomes available, including a flier to email to the members of your MSA.

Sheikh Imran, imam of the Islamic Society of Baltimore, will be speaking on the life of the Beloved Prophet (PBUH) on Wednesday, March 10. The lecture will take place in the Inter-Faith Center at 4:00 p.m. 

We are in the month of Rabi-ul Awal, the month in which the Prophet (PBUH) was born, and this event will insha Allah serve as a reminder of his legacy.

Please attend and bring your friends as well.

It's that time of the year again. MSA wants to hear from you. Come and let us know what you think of us. Good or bad, its your chance to let us have it. 

Ok so all jokes aside, this is one of the most important events for MSA. We are on campus to serve you guys and no one else can tell us about your needs and desires except you guys yourself. 

No need to get scared from the bearded men of our cabinet, we are students just like you. We too eat three times a day and skip classes like there nothing :)

Mark your calenders and write it down on a sticky note and paste it on your door. All are welcome. Tell your friends and buddies. We will be waiting for you. 

O and it goes without saying that we will be serving lunch during the meeting. Trust me, we wont let you leave with an empty stomach :)
